Read and Click 1 uses a unique, interactive story approach to help first and second grade children bridge the gap between decoding words and reading for meaning. Young readers interact with the stories, fostering purposeful active reading and a sense of control over the reading process. The software features: l an introductory game to help students read and locate the 12 action buttons that they will use to control the stories l an introductory read along story to focus attention on the meaning and effect of the action buttons l more than 30 interactive stories where the young reader chooses what happens next, shifting the focus from individual words to comprehension and reading for meaning l grade-appropriate vocabulary that includes ALL of the common high-frequency sight words that children need to know to become fluent readers l gradually increasing levels of difficulty to build confidence and fluency and make it clear that progress is being made l a highly motivating environment where reading is fun, even for reluctant readers At the end of each story, children may print the complete text of the story in several formats or a list of all the titles read during the session for record-keeping purposes, Read and Click 1 comes complete with: l a printed manual with worksheets and supplementary activities l curriculum correlations with the content standards of three representative areas: California, Florida, and Ontario |
